Sara Rabinowitz
TRiage Composite
Sara Rabinowitz and Julie Boyer have worked collaboratively for two years now. It all started when they began working in adjacent studios at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and had to share a light switch. Their projects have ranged from personal and private to public and open, but in each endeavor, they make sure that their material processes build and expand from upon the same foundation:
their immaterial, personal exchanges with each other. With their Triage project, Sara and Julie hope to offer an opportunity for other twosomes, of strangers or friends, to bring their moments of relaxing, reflecting, or hanging out into public spaces, where this slow and directionless interaction might alter how passers by consider their
own space and time. As our days become more mediated through technological and media interfaces, and as we move at a manic pace we feel that facilitating pause and connection in which people engage thoughtfully is a political act.
